Good People,

This message contains a brief update on our campaign to get some
response from some Nationally prominent Members of Congress. For full
details see: http://www.AKidsRight.Org/actionb_syr

1. Effort in Syracuse Federal Building Continues (Jan 8th)
2. ALL Trespass Charges against John Murtari Dismissed (Jan 7th)

1. Effort in Syracuse Federal Building Continues
------------------------------------------------
After getting all prior charges for trespass against him dismissed
(see below). John Murtari is returning to the Federal Building to
continue his picture carrying petition walk outside the offices of
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Senator Charles Schumer, and
Representative James Walsh. Your participation (by just calling the
Members of Congress or by coming to the building itself) is welcome in
this ongoing effort!

John was involved in a rather complicated arrest today, Jan. 8th at the
Federal Building. Two Federal Police officers watched him quietly
carry his sign with children's pictures and then arrested him for
loitering and causing a disturbance. These were Federal charges.
The City Police were then called and after approximately one hour
of discussion, they arrested John for disorderly conduct for refusing
to leave the building. He should be arraigned tomorrow in Syracuse
City Court.

2. ALL Trespass Charges against John Murtari Dismissed
------------------------------------------------------
Jan 7, 02 - In a Court appearance Syracuse City Judge Higgins
dismissed the three trespass charges against John as simply being
defective (as were the other 20 charges dismissed earlier by the same
Judge - http://www.AKidsRight.Org/protest_dm.htm).

John has been quite fortunate to have an assigned counsel (Mr. Charles
Keller, Criminal Division Chief of the Hiscock Legal Aid Society) who
has vigorously defended his Constitutional right to petition his
Members of Congress by walking peacefully in the building.
